“Welcome to the KGHM family”

The Young Talent, the first program in Poland dedicated to the development of talent in the mining industry.

We offer to students of the 5th year and recent graduates a unique opportunity to get to know and work for one of the global mining companies which has successfully completed the largest international expansion project in the history of the Polish economy.

When we launched the first edition of the program, on February 2012, we knew our challenge to offering to students a unique opportunity to begin a professional career in KGHM, explore and develop one of the world's largest mining companies.

One year later in 2013, 16 most talented students and graduates of the best universities in Poland started their work for KGHM. To get a job in KGHM, they beat 860 other applicants during the recruitment process in the second edition of the Young Talent.

One of our Young Talent student, Paweł Karpeta, a participant of the 2013 edition of The Young Talent, who graduated from the University of Economics in Wrocław, says that “There are many areas in which we can develop. The size of the company and the complexity of processes are a big surprise for me”.

And this is exactly the aim of our program.

Ahead of us two years of intensive work. And in 2 years the participants went to deal with tasks and projects prepared by tutors and mentors.

Each participant received tasks from the area in which their tutor works, related not only to the faculty of the studies they graduated from.

For two years graduates went through four stages of work in various areas of the company's operations, including in foreign divisions and companies. We ensured determining career path of every participant and conducted their work assessment system.

During every rotation participants joined ambitious projects that teached them how to work in KGHM, for example by understanding the integration of newly acquired foreign companies, assessment of the profitability of investment projects, building strategies for various Company’s divisions.

A dedicated mentoring program

The “Talent Mine” programme covered also 40 days of training and a dedicated mentoring program. Another advantage of the program was stable employment (employment contract) including the extensive social package.

As Anna Trusiak, our Training and Development Director, says at KGHM “We develop and implement educational programs adapted to particular purposes and to the nature of the Company’s operations. Such programs are intended to systematize the acquired knowledge and facilitate its use. We are aware of the fact that employees with greater duties are more aware of their personal goals in the organization, manage their people more effectively, have higher motivation and, consequently, better performance results”.
