Cu-OFE Wire
product | Cu-OFE-8-CL, Cu-OFE-12,7, Cu-OFE-16, Cu-OFE-20, Cu-OFE-22, Cu-OFE-24, and Cu-OFE-25 wire |
APPLICATION | for drawing: the Cu-OFE wire with oxygen content <3 ppm is resistant to hydrogen embrittlement (hydrogen-induced cracking). The negligible amount of oxygen ensures very good drawability and a low recrystallization temperature. The very good drawability of the wire allows for very deep drawing, down to diameters of less than 0.1 mm (micro wire). Wires drawn from the Cu-OFE wire wires are used as copper conductors, which can be additionally coated with Ag, Sn, or Ni. These types of conductors are used in enameled cables, as well as specialty cables and wires, e.g. in safety cables with increased fire resistance (for IT systems and nuclear power plants), as well as in cat. 6 and 7 cables for sound and video transmission. for extrusion: the Cu-OFE wire is an ideal material for continuous extrusion into flat and shaped profiles using the Conform® process. for rolling: the Cu-OFE wire can also be rolled into flat profiles and sections. |
STANDARD | PN-EN 1977, ASTM B49, and DIN-1708 |
DIMENSIONS AND TOLERANCES | 8 mm ±0,4; 12,7 mm ±0,4; 16 mm ±0,4; 20 mm ±0,6; 22 mm ±0,6; 24 mm ±0,6; and 25 mm ±0,8 |
PRODUCT PURITY | O2 = max. 3 ppm, maximum contamination level 25 ppm |
BATCH | The wire is made from selected quality cathodes produced at KGHM divisions in the Cu-CATH-1 grade, under the HMG-B and HMG-S brands. |
PHYSICAL PROPERTIES | Conductivity at 20 ºC: min. 58.87 MS/m (101.5% IACS) Resistance to hydrogen embrittlement: Cu-OFE-8 - min. 10 bends in a bending test, Cu-OFE-12.7 - no cracks in a single bending test. Scale adhesion: assured Density: 8.92 kg/dm3 Elongation (200 mm): 38% Tensile strength (200 mm): 180 ± 10 N/mm2 |
WIRE SURFACE | Clean and smooth without cracks or pores, coated with a layer of synthetic wax that protects the surface from oxidation during transport and storage. On request, the wire can be produced with a surface without wax. |
packAGING | The oxygen-free copper wire is supplied in coils weighing up to 4.0 mt, in one section. It is delivered on wooden pallets, secured with steel straps. Each coil is protected by thermo-shrinkable polyethylene film against adverse weather conditions. Pallet dimensions: 1,650 x 1,650 x 150 mm Internal diameter of the coil: 900 mm External coil diameter: 1,800 mm |
CUSTOMER BENEFITS | The primary benefit is the purchase and use of a product with a guaranteed stable and very high quality. The production process is carried out with high technological discipline and using feedstock of selected high quality, i.e. cathodes produced in KGHM. The unique technological characteristics of the process make it possible to avoid inclusions and maintain high product uniformity. Compared to the wire rod made using the “Contirod®” technology, the customer gets a product with a smaller diameter tolerance and a surface without scales. |
