Through life cycle assessment (LCA) and the environmental declarations prepared on this basis, we support our business partners in achieving their sustainability goals, ESG reporting and building low-carbon supply chains.

Verified environmental information

A comprehensive life cycle assessment (LCA) has been carried out for KGHM Polska Miedź S.A.’s products, covering the process from raw material extraction to the product leaving the production plant. The analyses were carried out in accordance with the international standards ISO 14040, ISO 14044 and ISO 14067, and independently verified environmental declarations compliant with PN-EN ISO 14021 have been drawn up for selected products.

Our products are characterised by an environmental footprint, including a carbon footprint, that is lower than the global industry averages, which confirms the efficiency of our production processes and our consistently implemented strategy to reduce our impact on the climate.

Environmental Product Declarations (EPD)

In response to growing market demands, KGHM is developing Type III Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs). EPDs are prepared in accordance with the EN 15804+A2 standard and constitute an independently verified source of information on a product’s environmental impact throughout its entire life cycle.

EPDs have been prepared for copper wire rod, oxygen-free copper wire and oxygen-free copper wire containing silver, providing customers with transparent data necessary, amongst other things, for ESG reporting, assessing the carbon footprint of products and meeting the requirements of sustainable investment.
