Fatal accident at the Rudna Mine

 

On Wednesday, September 14, at 9:59 a.m. there was a quake with energy released amounting to 2.3 x 107 J at Rudna West, at the G-12 branch of shaft R-IX.

 

There were 22 persons in the danger zone, 21 people have been withdrawn from the affected area. The rescue operation lasted three hours.

 

The rescuers found the remaining employee at 1:15 p.m. The physician summoned to the place of accident pronounced the man dead.

 

The late employee was a resident of Lubin, he was 43 years old and worked in KGHM for the past 17 years. He had a wife and two children.

 

The President of KGHM Polska Miedź Krzysztof Skóra proclaimed three days of mourning.

 

The Board, Management of the Rudna Mine, and KGHM employees express their deepest sympathy to the family and loved ones of the deceased.
