KGHM Polska Miedź S.A. was a participant in Poland of the individual investor program Civic Shareholding (Akcjonariat Obywatelski) and is involved in actions aimed at enhancing social awareness and acceptance of free market principles and mechanisms, including those of the capital market. The Civic Shareholding program is an educational venture carried out by the Ministry of the Polish State Treasury together with key capital market institutions and listed companies.
The program was introduced when the following companies became public:
- Tauron Polska Energia
- the Warsaw Stock Exchange
The original aim of the Civic Shareholding program was to enable individual investors to buy shares in State Treasury companies going public on the Warsaw Stock Exchange.

Today this educational program has expanded and is based on training sessions conducted nationwide, in cooperation with institutions of higher learning as well as on an e-learning platform which is freely available to both novice investors as well as experienced individual investors.
