KGHM recognized by Newsweek as the most valuable company in Poland for 2011

The Polish edition of Newsweek for the 10th time has selected the 10 most valuable companies in Poland. KGHM Polska Miedź SA took first place in the the ranking of the 100 Most Valuable Companies in Poland in 2011 in the mining industry, as well as first place in the ranking of the 100 Most Valuable Companies in Poland in general classification.

The Polish edition of Newsweek for the 10th time has selected the 10 most valuable companies in Poland. KGHM Polska Miedź SA took first place in the the ranking of the 100 Most Valuable Companies in Poland in 2011 in the mining industry, as well as first place in the ranking of the 100 Most Valuable Companies in Poland in general classification. 

Prizes were awarded in nine categories, including banking, insurance, energy, mining, telecommunications and IT. In each category, the three best companies were distinguished. KGHM Polska Miedź SA took first place in the the ranking of the 100 Most Valuable Companies in Poland in 2011 in the mining industry. PGNiG was awarded second place and JSW came in at third. 
While accepting the award, Herbert Wirth, the President and CEO of KGHM Polska Miedź SA, thanked the award committee for the recognition and for granting the award. 
"I am proud of the fact that we closed the transaction of the acquisition of Quadra FNX and we became a global company. It was a well thought-out decision, one we decided to carry out because we see it as possibility for growth for our shareholders. I would like to thank all our employees, because thanks to them and their work we can achieve success and receive such awards," said Herbert Wirth, the President and CEO of KGHM Polska Miedź SA. 
In addition to first place in the ranking of the 100 Most Valuable Companies in Poland in 2011 in the mining industry, KGHM was also awarded first place in the overall ranking of the 100 Most Valuable Companies in Poland in 2011. The special award for the most valuable company in Poland in 2011 in the overall classification was the “Newsweek Exclamation!” – the only such statue awarded this year by the Polish edition of Newsweek in Poland. The award ceremony took place yesterday in Warsaw. 
"It is a very special day for KGHM Polska Miedź SA, because today it turned out that we are not only the most valuable company in Poland in the mining industry and the most valuable company in Poland in the general classification, but also the largest global silver producer," said Herbert Wirth, the President and CEO of KGHM Polska Miedź SA. 
Granting KGHM the two awards coincided with the publication of the World Silver Survey report published by the Silver Institute based in Washington. According to the report, KGHM is the world’s largest silver producer.
