KGHM hosted representatives of the Euromines association. They presented their activities in the field of the mining industry and the current situation of the resources industry in the European Union. Euromines is a representative of the mining industry in the EU and brings together companies, organizations and institutions operating in this area.

“KGHM has been a member of Euromines for ten years. This has given us the chance to influence European regulation for the mining industry. We can also share knowledge and experience with other mining companies in Europe,” said Jacek Kardela, Vice-President of KGHM for Development.

The meeting was attended by employees of KGHM’s various branches and subsidiaries, as well as managers for development, safety and environment. KGHM’s employees are also engaged in the works of Euromines’ committees of safety, communication and environment.

„Our aim was to bring Euromines’ aims and KGHM’s role in the organization closer to our employees. Our membership in an organization that represents and promotes the mining industry in the EU lets us be closer to issues that are strategic for KGHM. We have been discussing the role of the industry in the EU and potential chances of development,” said Henryk Karaś, Advisor to the Management Board for the European Co - Operation.

The mission of Euromines is to represent and promote the interests of the mining industry in the European institutions in the fields of legislation, environmental protection, work safety and innovation in order to secure a long-lasting and sustainable development of the resources industry.

“We work together to reach practical solutions in the EU’s regulations which are crucial for the mining industry across the whole of Europe. This tackles our employees’ safety, taxes and market competition. We serve as a bridge between the mining business and the European administration. Our association supports positives changes,” said Mark Rachovides, President of Euromines. “KGHM is a perfect European example of how to develop business. Companies like KGHM play a key role in triggering the economic growth through innovations and new technologies.”

Euromines enables co-operation and exchange of information within the whole mining industry in Europe. The association works closely and strengthens relationships with mining companies around the world. Euromines’s members include both large and medium-sized companies from the mining industry, based in 16 EU-member states and employing 350,000 people.
